I agree it doesnt save THAT much time, but its the fatigue that comes with pole sanding that gets me. Sand a 4 bedder by 12pm and your totally gubbed for the afternoon! Using the machine you can have it done by half 11 and you're raring to go after that. also you're not picking big grey bogeys out yer nose all the way up the motorway

A 400 mile roundtrip to price a job after stating to the client on the phone before driving into the wilderness that you will not be able to compete pricewise with local labour (due to travel costs, digs etc)...

Then being expected to compete with local labour after measuring it up and giving your price.

The house to do being 30 yards from the van, with 3 trenches between you and the front door. Water Is 400 yards away and no front door on so you can't even leave your empty buckets overnight for fear of the brickies nicking them. The agent won't let you start till 8 and the site gate is shut at 4.30 sharp. He wants the house done pronto ....forklift driver is getting a back hander off the brickies so you can wait for water because he can not be assed to find a water butt to fill up. Need I go on lol ....

The forks was the most unhelpful, miserable, short tempered Jock I've ever had the misfortune to meet, and we're only doing the metal and the MF.

Nothin worse than coming to work in the morning to find that local kids have smashed their way into your house and thrown buckets of cement all over the windows and floors, pulled all your metal tape out its box and its coiled all over the place, squeezed wood glue all over the walls, wrapped the whole scaffold outside with paper tape, booted f**k out the walls, ripped wires and copper pipes, set fire to empty bags of cement etc and embedded your radio in a fresh turd. IS THERE?????????

I had that happen to me twice in 3 days. People were breaking in via an upstairs windows from the scaffolding, trashing the rooms, leaving dirty needles and nicking materials. The plumber carelessly left some copper pipes on the stairs (as they do) and I discovered someone had slipped onto some glass bottles when i arrived in the morning. Building sites are dangerous places and it never happened a third time.

Theres also nothing worse than when you arrive on site to paint a double garage lockup and discover a hobo has been staying there overnight with his dog. The stench of piss, cider and shit was awful and the site needed professionally cleaned and secured before we started a day late.
